Photo by Scott Munn I do love a man with a guitar strapped on by a piece of chord wondering down North End streets and abandoned play yards. I think you will enjoy this one as well. Chose your own Adventure:
During the festival weekend several bands snuck off to film fun take away shows with our fabulous team of videographers, Dan Buchanan and Ian Gibb! I suggest you spend a couple of minutes this morning while you sip on your coffee and pray for sunshine to indulge in some internet footage. Here is the oh so adorable and hilarious video of Hooded Fang at Foxy Moon getting hair cuts while performing “Vacationation”: Hooded Fang – Vacationation from Long Live The Queen on Vimeo. Kat from Forest City Lovers crawled into a tight attic space to perform her tunes “Mailtrucks” and “Tell Me Cancer”. Forest City Lovers – Mailtrucks from Long Live The Queen on Vimeo. Exclaim Review: Long Live the Queen featuring Play Guitar, Bahamas, Envision, SISTER Halifax, NS May 19 – May 22 By Laura Kenins Now in its second year, Long Live the Queen wears its crown as Halifax’s shortest-distance music festival, with a stretch of a mere one block between the main venues, which proved ideal for the wintery temperatures gracing the Maritimes this Victoria Day weekend. Though many of the organizers now live in Toronto, the festival is more akin to the small-town vibe of Sackville, NB’s SappyFest than NXNE. Thursday kicked off the festival with a folk show in the early evening and a rock show at night. Sean Nicholas Savage is one of the most innovative young songwriters in [...]
Thanks to the coast for this lovely highlight video from the 2011 Festival. We had loads of fun this year, and we were blown away by the Chitz, Bahamas, The Round Robin, and The Neighborhood party, which started off the day with 50 kids dancing and singing to the Wilderbeats! Here is the festival reel from the Coast: Here are some beautiful videos of Bahamas with projections by Ella and Laura: Stay tuned for more LLTQ videos, and check out the festival take away shows on Long Live the Queens Vimeo Channel!!!

Gadzooks! Doctor Ew is Toronto’s Drew Smith, and Toronto’s Drew Smith makes lo-fi sunny pop gems, sounding like “SMILE” era Brian Wilson through a tin can telephone as interpreted by nouveau popsike weirdos like April March or maybe even some Elephant 6 dudes or Mark Sultan. You can hear his smile in his voice and enthused handclaps. Doctor Ew sounds like your favourite care-free bubblegum garage pop, but if you listen a little closer, the macabre sense of humour Smith possesses can be heard loud and clear; “Dance All Over My Grave” is one particularly non-offensively ironic jam. There’s some bittersweetly orchestrated horns on “Stay In Place”. I like this stuff. Be sure to check the back cover of this [...]
